Supported what they were doing and have previously visited and carried out surveys but have lost a lot of respect knowing that they welcome the Crawley & Horsham hunt on their land. Charlie Burrell's uncle is a director of the hunt so it appears to be a family business. They close down any mention of their support on their social media by deleting or hiding comments. Seems it isn't 'on brand' for their Knepp business. Ironically Isobella Tree calls out dog walkers for letting their dogs loose in the wild in her book Wilding. No association is made between their beloved ‘letting off steam’ and the impact on wildlife. In a depleted environment beset by pollution, fragmentation and climate change, uncontrolled dogs are yet another burden, to add to predation by free-roaming domestic cats, putting unwarranted pressure on wildlife. If you enjoy this subject (rewilding) then this will provide a good experience for you at a not unreasonable price point. Note that if you do a sunset safari you will need a really good quality camera to get a reasonable photo. You will also definitely need a warm jumper/fleece/coat, as it was cold by the end, even after a fairly warm day in September. A torch is a must, not only for the end of the safari but also find your way to the car park afterwards as there is no lighting

We love this location as a nature lover. It is a walker's paradise with lots of trails with trail-markers. The highlight on this occasion were the nesting storks which we saw many including some in flight. Fantastic sight.

Knepp now allow large group bookings onto their pitches. On this occasion there were three very large groups. Lovely people I am sure, but inevitably when you have ten adults all in a group, chairs around the fire, alcohol, then the 'we're here to hear nature' vibe dissipates pretty substantially. There were not any parties, but obviously groups manage to dominate, so when they are in the open kitchen area, you feel like you are invading their space, and when it is time to pack up, they are using six of the wheelbarrows on their own and you have to wait for a long time to get one. There are other sites now which, while not rewilding projects, aren't adjacent to the A24 and the Gatwick flight path, and only allow maximum of four adults per pitch. I'll return as always to view wildlife, but the camping is no longer any good, which is a shame.

We so enjoyed being here! We walked miles, enjoying the flora and fauna and learning about the rewilding project. The highlight was seeing the storks, especially through the telescopes that kindly bird watchers allowed us to use. We also loved the outdoor showers. Fantastic place to stay.

We went on a walking wild horse safari with Rina which was amazing. The horses were stunning and Rina was so knowledgable about the whole estate as well as the horses.

I went on the Regnerative Farm Tour in September 2022. It was a really well planned tour of the farm's current activites, which are experimenting with how to run a regenerative farm business. Impressive how much detail was shared on the business side of things, as well as hearing from both the farmer and farm ecologist on the biodiversity baselining in order that they can measure their effort through both the financials and biodiverisity. Really knowledgable and the introductry presentation and closing slides back in the village hall were really useful framing and context for what they are doing in this part of the Knepp Estate. Also very interesting the range of interest among others attending, from other farmers, environmental orgs and interested individuals. The tea and brownies a very nice addition given the rainy weather too! Note that our particualr tour didn't start at the main Knnep visitor centre, but in a local village hall - so be sure to check the instructions (I didn't!). I then went on the Dusk Safari in July 2023, and although this was a lovely an dinteresting walk, I think it's very overpriced at £60 per person. I'd suggest just doing a self-guided walk, readying the website before so you know what wildlife to look out for, take som binoculars, and use the trails that are sign posted. I'd pay £20 per person, but not £60, it's feels like they are taking the mick a bit really!
